I planted some crossvine (Bignonia capreolata) last year to cover the back chain link fence. And right now, the vines are exploding with orange blooms. The plants haven't filled in all the spaces yet, but they are doing pretty darn well.
This nice little scene is really shaping up:
The purple blooms of the culinary sage in the foreground play off the orange of the crossvine. Purple and orange are a classic color combo for gardens. The Mexican feathergrass in the midground is just starting to send up its flower spikes. They will be waving in the breezes here shortly. There's a prickly pear back there too, but it toppled over after the freeze. It will be tall and strong again by August. It grows like a weed...
Your crossvine is looking fabulous. I took pics of mine today and will post tomorrow. What a great plant!
ReplyDeleteReally nice looking bed; hope to see more of it as the year progresses.
