Path and Rock Garden Inspiration

This natural outcropping at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is a great inspiration for a stone walkway scattered with plants.

Imagine large flat chunks of irregular stone planted with little bluestem, moss and a few perennials and you've got it. Full Texas sun and all.

In fact, head over to Rock Rose and you'll see what one beautiful interpretation of this looks like.

I'm always amazed at life in the cracks how a tiny bit of soil yields such rich treasures and varieties. Even the cactus can grab a toe hold. There is a rock ledge near UT that has beautiful mosses and tiny flowers. I loved looking at it while waiting for the bus.
