Enchanting Micro Gardens

Here's proof that beautiful small native gardens can be grown on little to no soil and with natural amounts of rainfall.

In these parts, all it takes is:
  • Little bluestem
  • Prickly pear
  • Yucca
  • A small shrub or two
  • A ground cover (try blue grama, moss or frogfruit)
  • A small tree, even an oak will make a nice little bonsai
And voila!

For inspiration, I suggest a visit any time of year to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area.

What I loved about Enchanted Rock were those pockets of life. They reminded me of similar pockets I'd seen above treeline on the AT in NH and Maine.
