Hiking in Colorado, I recently came across this wonderful planting scheme, planted by Ma Nature herself. It felt to me like one of those things I should learn from. There's a great mix of low growing groundcovers, such as sedge, with a couple of vertical accents, all backed by the woods themselves. This is good inspiration for a woodland opening type of planting design.

So glad I ran into your blog! Great explanation on the various plant forms in the wild, even in the far different Colo Rockies (am originally from Denver, so those scenes are familiar in spots).
